Rod and Gayle Burgett are the proud owners of R & G Cattle Co. As 4th generation ranchers, they are proud to provide quality beef direct to your table. Their desire to provide quality beef is paired with fair and honest pricing.
The process is simple and personal. Beef is offered at a per pound hanging rate and you select your cuts through a personalized cut sheet specific to your purchase. The current purchase price for the hang rate is $4.50 per pound.
What does this mean to the consumer and what does "hanging weight" mean?
The hanging weight is usually about 60% of the live weight.
If a cow weighs 1,000 pounds live weight, its hanging weight will be approximately 600 pounds.
The hanging weight is the most consistent way to measure the carcass before getting into customizing the cuts.
Our beef is processed through All Hale Meats in Wolfforth, Texas. All Hale Meats is the only organic USDA packing house in the state of Texas, meaning all of the chemicals used are organic. Processing includes your choice of basic cuts as well as a wide variety of All Hale Meat's market-blend seasoned sausage (fresh and smoked), breakfast sausage, and jerky.
West Texas Roots grow the best beef. Based out of Shallowater, Texas our cattle are raised with care and attention to detail. They receive lots of sunshine, grass, fresh water and shelter from seasonal storms. We are passionate about providing the best growing environment possible for our livestock.
R & G Cattle prides itself on offering quality beef to the consumer. Our cattle are grass fed from quality grasses to provide a higher quality to the finished product. There are no hormones used and cattle are raised in the most ethical environment we can provide.
*All cattle including our Grass Raised & Grass Finished Cattle are provided protein cakes and/or protein pellets during winter months until adequate field grass has grown to provide enough nutritional value to our livestock.
